La Direction Générale du Livre, les Instituts Culturels et le Droites d’Auteur, dans le cadre des activités liées à ce projet, a chargé la société ItinerAria d’effectuer le relèvement des données cartographiques et la mise au point du parcours piétons de la Via Francigena. Le but principal du "CamminaFrancigena", qui a eu lieu du 30 juin au 30 juillet 2008, a été le relèvement détaillé avec le GPS de la dernière version du parcours piétons de la Via Francigena et la vérification de sa sureté. Les road book, les plans, les plans Google Earth et GPS du parcours sont téléchargeables gratuitement dans la section suivante.
Le 31juillet 2008 un groupe de pèlerins participant au parcours "CamminaFrancigena" du territoire italien a été accueilli et reçu par le Ministre Sandro Bondi.
